We live out the Navigators Mission statement by mentoring and discipling youth through their high school and college years, developing them into Urban Leaders who will restore their cities. We do this mostly through life on life relationships with them and also through bible studies, leadership development programs, one-to-one spiritual counseling sessions, group activities, individual mentoring, tutoring, and college prep assistance.

We have two adjacent houses in Roosevelt Park. One we live in and the other we use as a Youth Center/Ministry House/Discipleship House where we mentor and disciple youth through their high school and college years, developing them into Urban Leaders who will restore their cities. This is also where 3-4 young college age men live and learn how to go deeper with God, and how to do ministry life on life in the community. We call that house “R” House after Isaiah 61:4:

They will rebuild the old ruins and restore the places destroyed long ago. They will repair the ruined cities that were destroyed for so long.

We know that the rebuilding and restoring of the cities will not come through us but it will be through what God does in the lives of these young people.

My mission is to impact youth in all areas of their lives; helping them grow and mature in Christ so they can impact others in the same way.

I work with urban middle and high school students, trying to meet them where they are at so I can have the opportunity to share with them about God and what God has done in my life and share with them the love God has for them. I lead an urban youth bible study for approximately 25 youth, I mentor middle school students, I meet with students one on one, I lead a leadership program for high school students called, Grand Rapids Initiative for Leaders, I am a discipleship leader, and next year am looking to add another discipleship class. I also connect with neighborhood youth through various events such as a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

I am a husband and father of two young children.
